Congregation Agudat Achim is hosting Kallah Weekend from October 16th through October 18th with guest speaker Rabbi Sam Kieffer, Agudat Achim's spiritual leader from 1979 until 1992. The weekend will be an excellent learning and spiritual opportunity focused on Rabbi Kieffer’s world-wide experience as a Rabbi and about his time in Israel during the war in Gaza.
Kallah will begin on Friday, October 16th with 7:30 PM Kabbalat Shabbat services, followed by a pareve dessert and fruit oneg. Rabbi Kieffer will speak about "Fifty Days of War and Blessing" including his experiences in Israel and living through last summer's war. This event is open to the community and free of charge.
During Saturday morning Shabbat services beginning at 9:30 AM, Rabbi Kieffer will give the D’var Torah. After services, a special luncheon will be held where he will speak about "The Top Ten Ideas That Torah Has Taught the World." Attendance at the luncheon requires a pre-paid reservation.
Kallah Weekend will come to a close on Sunday morning at a continental breakfast. Rabbi Kieffer will discuss "Jewish Responses to Tragedy," which will include this summer's tragic events in Israel involving the attack on a Palestinian family and the violence at the gay pride parade in Jerusalem. Kadima and USY age students are invited and encouraged to attend this event, which is open to the community free of charge.
